We’re very excited about our excursion to Rock Island! In fact, everyone is so excited about this event as it sold out very quickly. For those of you who have reservations for this historic event, there are a few things we would like to mention:

  • We will be departing on the passenger ferry “Island Clipper” from GILLS ROCK. (Do not drive to Northport!)
  • Attendees must park in the large grass parking area to the right, across from Charlie’s Smokehouse. Please do not use the Shoreline Restaurant’s parking spaces or the gift shop parking down at the dock.
  • If you have special mobility needs please call our office prior to noon or inform us upon arrival.
  • All participants must be checked in at the Island Clipper dock no later than 3:45 PM. Keep in mind that traffic is heavier at this time of year so allow extra time to drive to Gills Rock. In the off-season it normally takes one hour from Sturgeon Bay to Gills Rock. If you are traveling this distance we suggest you allow 1 1/2 hours for the drive.
  • For those who might be sensitive to traveling in a boat you may want to take Dramamine or a similar product about one hour prior to departure.
  • There are two bathrooms on the Island Clipper. There are also flush toilets on Rock Island that are about a five minute walk from Viking Hall.
  • Casual and comfortable clothes are recommended with shoes suitable for a boating outing. Remember that it can get cool on the water at night so an outer jacket and maybe even head wear is appropriate.
  • We will depart Gills Rock at 4:00 PM sharp and the cruise to Rock Island will take about an hour.
  • A catered dinner by Alexander’s will be served on the boat prior to the concert. Gerhard Bernhard will perform during dinner.
  • The concert will start at approximately 5:45 PM in Viking Hall, an historic and acoustically magnificent building.
  • We will depart Rock Island around 8:00 PM so we can all enjoy the sunset and sip champagne on the return cruise.
  • We should dock at Gills Rock around 9:00 PM.

We look forward to seeing you there!
