Midsummer’s Music Festival is proud to announce three community outreach programs in December. As many of you know, we sponsor the Chicago Early Music Consort on December 11, 12, and 13 as they present “A Renaissance Christmas” concert program. While they are in Door County, Wisconsin, two of the musicians are giving free presentations to area schools.

Gary Berkenstock, Artistic Director and founder of the Chicago Early Music Consort, is giving a presentation for the music students at Gibraltar Schools. Gary will give a demonstration on the recorder, rackett, shawm, and other early music instruments.

Dr. Phillip Serna, who plays the vielle and viola da gamba, will give two presentations “Viols in our Schools” to music students. The schools are to be announced but we are extemely hopeful that one of the presentations will be in Green Bay. What a wonderful way to bring early music to young people!

We can’t thank Gary Berkenstock and Dr. Serna enough for offering to do these free programs for our students. They are definitely helping us make a joyful noise!
